. Buttermilk Biscuits. 2 cups Great Value Self-Rising Flour. 1/2 cup Great Value All-Vegetable Shortening. 3/4 cup buttermilk. Directions:. Preheat oven to 450°F. Place the flour and shortening in a medium mixing bowl. Use a pastry blender, or two knives, to cut the shortening into the flour until a coarse meal is formed. Stir in the buttermilk just until blended. Drop mixture by heaping tablespoons onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Makes 18 biscuits.
