Suggestion: Beans are a natural agricultural product. Despite the use of modern processing equipment, it is not always possible to remove all foreign material. Add 2.5 to 3 cups of water for each cup (1/2 LB) of Lentils. (If extra softness is desired, soak for an hour). Season to taste, heat to boiling, reduce the heat, cover and simmer for 40 minutes or until desired tenderness.
